What is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimizations. It refers to all the hard work we do to make a website appealing in Google’s eyes so that it suggests our website, products, and services to more people.
Why is SEO Important?
Did you know that Google processes over 8.5 billion searches every day? Which equates to almost 6 million searches per minute! or that 60% of all shopping occasions start with a quick search on Google?
Now, imagine what would happen if Google showed your website whenever someone wanted to buy something?
You would be a billionaire!
Now this was just a far-fetched hypothesis, obviously Google won’t bring up the same result for 8.5 billion searches but I think it helped me prove my point that SEO is important!
There are a couple of reasons why SEO is important. Here are some of them:
1. Increased Visibility:
Over 90% of online experiences begin with a search engine. If your site doesn’t appear on the first page of results, you’re missing out on potential traffic. plus 47.5% of web traffic comes from organic search which highlights the importance of SEO even more.
2. Cost-Effective Marketing with long term results:
Compared to paid advertising, organic traffic generated through SEO is often more sustainable and cost-effective.- Credibility and Trust:
Users tend to trust organic results more than paid ads. A high ranking can enhance your brand’s credibility.
3. Brand awareness:
when you maintain your presence at the top of search result pages for related keywords to your business, people start to see you as an authority in your niche.
If you keep working on your website’s SEO, your brand’s name will evoke your niche in your client’s mind and vice versa.
Different approaches toward SEO
There are two different approaches when it comes to SEO: black hat SEO and white hat SEO. It’s really important to know their differences.
Black hat SEO refers to unethical practices designed to manipulate search engine rankings. These techniques often prioritize quick results over long-term value, putting sites at risk of penalties from search engines. Common black hat tactics include Keyword stuffing, cloaking, etc. I’ve explained what these black hat techniques are in this blog.
White Hat SEO, on the other hand, employs ethical strategies that comply with search engine guidelines. This approach focuses on delivering value to users and fostering trust with search engines. Producing high-quality content and utilizing proper keyword placement are some of them.
