Why are older blog posts not showing up on the blog page, WordPress?

Table of Contents

I’m writing this blog post because I realized there’s no exact match result for this query:

“Why older blog posts are not showing up on the blog page, WordPress?”

I mean, when I was working on my blog, I had the same question as you have now, but Google couldn’t answer it. So I had to fumble around WordPress settings to find the answer myself. After an hour of testing different WordPress settings, I finally realized where the problem was. So, I thought I was going to share it here to help you save an hour of your precious time. So here it is. First, I’m going to share a description of the problem you’re facing now, and then, if it was your case, you can read the rest of the blog where I explain how I solved this problem.

The problem:

I’m a web designer/digital marketer, and I used WordPress to launch my website. Launching websites, no matter how you do it, whether by using a CMS like WordPress or using codes, requires a lot of patience, even if you’ve done it a hundred times. Each time, there’s something new to deal with. Luckily, a lot of times, solving the problem is easier than you think.

As the number of my blog posts was increasing, I realized that the older blog posts don’t show up on the blog page like they used to. Look at the pictures below. The first 4 blogs I had published on my blog weren’t showing up on the list. You want all those blogs to be there when a user checks out your blog page because the number of blog posts on your blog can build trust. It’s easier to trust a website when you know they’ve been long enough in the business to publish a considerable amount of posts. Plus, it provides a better user experience when the users can access all your published blogs displayed in reverse chronological order (newest to oldest) by scrolling down one page. So it’s important to fix the issue.

The solution:

Most blog pages on WordPress are built using the layout grid block. The Layout Grid block in WordPress is a versatile tool that allows users to create structured, responsive layouts for their content. They help you select how many columns appear side by side on your post or page for both desktop and mobile views. So open up your WordPress dashboard, go to pages. Open the blog page, and click on the grid, in the window that opens click on “Items Quantity” in “general” tab and type in the number of blog posts you’d like to be displayed on this page. check out this video, you can see the first 4 blogs I’ve published at the bottom of the list.
